Projects and publications
Here's a list of researchy stuff I've worked on in the recent past.
- ODIN - An OmniDirectional INdoor dataset capturing Activities of Daily Living from multiple synchronized modalities

I worked on creating ODIN, the first large-scale omnidirectional dataset aimed at human behaviour understanding tasks like pose estimation and activity recognition. Recorded in real-life indoor environments with varying levels of occlusion, the dataset contains images of participants performing various activities of daily living. Along with omnidirectional images, additional synchronized modalities of data are provided. These include (1) RGB, infrared, and depth images from multiple RGB-D cameras, (2) egocentric videos, (3) physiological signals and accelerometer readings from a smart bracelet, and (4) 3D scans of the recording environments. The project is open sourced and available at link.
This will be presented at CVPR 2023 in Vancouver, CA at the OmniCV workshop later this year.
2. Fairly Private - Investigating The Fairness of Visual Privacy Preservation Algorithms

I investigated the fairness of commonly used visual privacy preservation algorithms through the performances of facial recognition models on obfuscated images to show that the privacy protection provided is unequal across groups. This work was presented at AAAI 2023, at the Privacy preserving AI workshop (link).
3. On The Nature of Misidentification With Privacy Preserving Algorithms

We show that persons are most often mistaken for someone of their own gender when using common visual privacy algorithms. However, in terms of racial bias, white people tend to be under-represented among the misidentifications. This work was presented at 15th International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA 2022, link)
4. A Review on Visual Privacy Preservation Techniques for Active and Assisted Living

I authored a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in my field, this is being published in the Multimedia Tools and Applications journal. (link)
